Double dejection for Belfast Giants
![]() Giants goalie Mark Cavallin had disappointing night
London Knights 6-1 Belfast Giants
The Belfast Giants capped a disappointing weekend when they crashed 6-1 to London Knights at the Docklands Arena on Sunday night. Twenty-four hours earlier they had lost to the Ayr Acottish Eagles in the first match in front of their home audience in Belfast's spanking new Odyssey Arena. Coach Dave Whistle's Giants remain rooted to the bottom of the Sekonda Superleague. Brendan Yarema scored a hat-trick for the London team, his first being the only goal of the first period.
Two markers inside 43 seconds put Knights in the driving seat with Yarema claiming his second and Grant Richison his first in the league for the club. Knights then had defenceman Neal Martin ejected for boarding and Giants took full advantage with Jeff Hoad replying on the powerplay. But Yarema completed his treble also on the powerplay, with Shane Johnson sitting out a minor holding penalty, and Terry Marchant and Jay Neal (powerplay) completing the rout. To cap a nightmare evening for Giants, Kory Karlander was thrown out of the game for abusing referee Dave Cloutman with eight minutes left.
