Holders RBAI face Friends opener

Ulster and Ireland star Jonathan Bell was at the draw
Holders RBAI will face Friends in the opening round of this year's Renault Ulster Schools Cup.

One of the ties of the round will be the clash of Coleraine Inst and Armagh Royal.

Coleraine old boy Jonathan Bell was present at Thursday's draw and reckoned his former school will have a tough task against Armagh.

The draw brought a smile to the face of Ulster Schools Chairman and Belfast High principal Stephen Hilditch.

His school face an away trip to Larne Grammar where he himself was educated.

Portora Royal and Sullivan Upper both earned byes to round tie.

First round ties will be played on Saturday 20 January.

Methody v Rainey, Coleraine Inst v Armagh Royal, Friends v RBAI, Larne Grammar v Belfast High, Antrim Grammar v St Columb's Derry or Cambridge House or Strabane Grammar, Banbridge v Limavady Grammar, Ballyclare High v Dungannon Royal, Down High v Grosvenor, Carrick Grammar v Portadown College, Wallace High v Bangor Grammar, BRA v Dalriada, Ballymena Academy v Lurgan College, Regent House v Omagh Academy, Foyle & Londonderry College v Campbell College.

Byes: Portora Royal and Sullivan Upper.
