Change of date for British Rally

The 2008 World Rally Championship's British stage has been put back a week.

The three-day Wales Rally GB will now start on Friday, 5 December to avoid a clash with the Wales v Australia rugby match in Cardiff seven days earlier.

"For the past two months we have been working closely to avoid a clash of these two major events in the Welsh capital," said organiser Andrew Coe.

Mikko Hirvonen won last year's rally, but Frenchman Sébastien Loeb secured his fourth successive driver's title.

Wales Rally GB is the British and final round of the 15-round FIA World Rally Championship and this year will be the 76th time it has held the event.

Details of the start and finish locations in Cardiff together with the overall route and timetable are expected to be announced in late May or early June.
