Former world rally champion Richard Burns has undergone a "very successful" operation as he continues to battle a brain tumour, according to his doctors.
Burns, who won the title in 2001, has not competed since he passed out at the wheel of his road car on the way to the Wales Rally GB in November 2003.
The 34-year-old was diagnosed as suffering from astrocytoma and was given chemotherapy and radiotherapy.
But doctors decided to operate after he had "health problems in recent weeks".
