Dutch rider Theo Pijper has signed for the Birmingham Brummies for the forthcoming season.
Pijper, 31, will become the Brummies number eight and will cover for injuries and rider unavailability.
Brummies boss Graham Drury said: "Theo had a fine season last year on the Longtrack and Grasstrack scene.
"I feel sure he is in for a good year in British Speedway. He has good equipment and is determined to take this chance."
Pijper is a two-time individual European Grasstrack champion and has spent most of his speedway career with Edinburgh, but had a brief period with Wolverhampton in 2007.

He will predominately ride for Glasgow in the Premier League in 2011 but will make occasional appearances for the Brummies.
"Whatever meetings he gets for Birmingham he will be determined to do well," Drury added.
"He has a lot of experience under his belt now so I'm sure he won't let the occasion get to him when he rides in the Elite League."
The Brummies get their season underway with a meeting against local rivals Wolverhampton on Thursday, 17 March for the BBC WM Trophy.
The first leg is at Perry Barr with the return at Monmore Green on Monday, 21 March.
Both legs are live on BBC WM 95.6FM.
