Belle Vue want replacement rider

Speedway

Belle Vue have applied for a 28-day cover rider for injured Billy Forsberg.

The Swedish star is now technically withholding his services after recovering from injuries suffered at Peterborough in May.

It was his second major setback this year after a pre-season pile-up, meaning Forsberg has only made four Aces appearances this season.

Team boss Chris Morton told the club website: "Billy is riding again but he says he isn't ready to come back here."

The Aces have requested the facility for Forsberg after being unsuccessful in their efforts to bring in a new rider to strengthen the top end of the team.

Morton added: "It doesn't mean he isn't coming back sooner or later, but it does mean he's not returning yet.

"Billy is trying hard to find himself, his form and his confidence, after two bad crashes, so we aren't criticising him for easing his way back.

"But he is withholding his services. He is number six in our averages so we have requested a 28-day facility."
