Monarchs march on as Tigers lose

Edinburgh Monarchs enjoyed an excellent weekend, with three victories in the space of three days.

The Scots scraped in 46-45 at home to title favourites Kings Lynn Stars on Friday and managed another league win (47-43) in Newport on Sunday.

On Saturday, they edged to a 46-44 triumph over Scunthorpe in the first leg of their Premier Trophy semi-final.

Glasgow Tigers slumped to a third successive home defeat, with Sheffield winning 50-40 at Ashfield on Sunday.

The Tigers sit second bottom of the Premier League table, while the Monarchs are in eighth place but have ties in hand over all of the teams above them.
