Ford close to deal for Buccaneers

Poole Pirates promoter Matt Ford has told BBC Radio Solent a deal to launch the Bournemouth Buccaneers speedway team is less than a week away.

Ford has met with landlords at Wimborne Road and is hoping to complete the deal for a new outfit next week.

The Pirates boss is hoping to blood young local talent and bolster his Elite League team in the future.

The Buccaneers will compete in the newly-formed National Speedway League in the 2009 season.
