Patchett likes new play-offs plan

Gary Patchett reckons the new play-off system will be good for race goers

Swindon co-owner Gary Patchett has said that next season's new Elite League play-off system will excite supporters.

Under the new system, the number of teams competing for the overall title at the end of the season is increased from the top four to the top six.

Patchett told BBC Radio Swindon: "It gives us many teams as possible a chance to be involved in the do-or-die matches at the end of the season.

"That's clearly what the supporters want and it is what TV wants too."

The new play-off system will also see the first and second placed clubs go in at the semi-final stage, to join the winners of the quarter-final games between the four other clubs.

The team finishing bottom will also face a play-off against the Premier League champions.
