Bad run has Brummies cursing luck

Birmingham Brummies

Birmingham Brummies boss Graham Drury believes his team are under a "curse" after their desperate run of bad luck.

A string of injuries have twice taken out the entire Brummies team, while bad weather has caused seven of their meetings to be cancelled.

Drury said: "This is without doubt the worst injury crisis in speedway's 80-year history.

"It has definitely got to be some sort of curse. We have had to change the entire team at least twice."

Brummies' latest defeat was a 66-24 walloping at King's Lynn on Friday, when they were once again badly depleted by injuries.

In a manner reminiscent of former Birmingham City boss Barry Fry's infamous attempt to rid St Andrew's of a 'curse' almost two decades ago, Drury has appealed to anyone who can help rid them of their bad luck.

"We have had such dreadful luck that we are open to any suggestions," said Drury. "We are desperate to find a lucky charm somewhere."
