Brummies almost snatch upset win

Birmingham Brummies

Birmingham Brummies battled against the odds at Redcar before slipping to a 46-44 defeat in the Premier League.

Missing injured trio Jason Lyons, Phil Morris and Adam Roynon, the West Midland club stayed in the hunt until the final race.

Ty Proctor saved the day for Redcar, preventing a Brummies 1-2 in heat 15 to secure the points.

Guest Tomas Topinka produced a 15-point haul for Birmingham, with Craig Watson adding 11 and James Birkinshaw eight.

Proctor was Redcar's leading scorer with 15, Gary Havelock, James Grieves and Josh Auty contributing nine apiece.

Meanwhile, Brummies skipper Jason Lyons is having a scan on his back after suffering a serious crash on Wednesday night.

The Australian already faces a period on the sidelines with a broken collarbone but his back is also causing him some concern.
