Lyons inspires depleted Brummies

Jason Lyons
Australian Lyons averaged 9.77 points a meeting last season

Jason Lyons enjoyed a perfect night as Birmingham Brummies opened their Premier League season with a 53-37 win over Scunthorpe on Wednesday.

The skipper chalked up a six-ride 18-point maximum to help his injury-hit team to victory at Perry Barr.

Lyons defied an arm injury suffered in a weekend crash to ride for a Brummies side missing three regular riders.

Guests Ben Powell and Ben Barker combined for 10 points to help defeat the League new-boys.

Reserve Lee Smart also stole the show filling in for long-term injury absentee Kyle Legault, notching 11 points from his six rides.

He teamed up with Adam Roynon to seal victory with a 1-2 finish in heat 14, Roynon also finishing with 11 points.
