Plater takes fifth in Senior TT

Kirkby-on-Bain's Steve Plater rounded off his week at the Isle of Man TT with fifth place in the Senior TT race.

Plater, riding for AIM Yamaha, snatched the position from Gary Johnson in the closing stages of the six-lap race.

He told BBC Radio Lincolnshire: "We made some changes to the bike. It wasn't perfect but it was easier to ride and I managed to go a lot faster."

John McGuinness took his 14th victory to move to joint second in the all-time TT winners list with Mike Hailwood.

Meanwhile Dave Hewson, from Branston, maintained his record of finishing in all five races in which he competed when he came home in 24th position.
