Kirkby-on-Bain's Steve Plater failed to emulate Monday's victory at the Isle of Man TT when he was forced to retire from Wednesday's Junior TT race.
Plater's AIM Yamaha coasted to a halt on the opening lap at the bungalow on the mountain section of the course.
"It was a mechanical failure of some sort," he explained. "It's a shame but these things happen in racing."
Victory went to Bruce Anstey, whose disqualification from Monday's race handed Plater his maiden TT victory.
Gary Johnson from Broughton near Brigg came home in fifth, one place ahead of Kirmington's Guy Martin, with Branston racer Dave Hewson in 33rd place.
The blue riband Senior TT race is held on Friday at 1200 BST.
