Laverty scoops Supersport victory

Michael Laverty took two top 12 places at Thruxton

Eugene Laverty won the Supersport race in Monday's third round of the British Championship at Thruxton to move up to second in the championship standings.

In the two Superbike races won by Gregorio Lavilla, Jonathan Rea was fourth and fifth, with Michael Laverty 10th and 11th.

Red Bull Honda rider Rea lies fifth in the series after six races.

John Laverty was fourth in Superstocks in which Adrian Coates, Ryan Rainey and Stephen Thompson failed to finish.

Meanwhile at the Irish Championship meeting at Kirkistown, Alastair Seeley and Cameron Donald each took a win apiece in the Superbike and 600 classes.

Seeley set a new track record in winning the first Superbike event at a speed of 96.96mph on lap nine.

Mark Lunney and Michael Dunlop were the 125cc winners and Lee Wilson won both 400cc races.
