Valentino Rossi hopes to claim a record-equalling 12th win of the season this weekend when Turkey hosts its first-ever MotoGP race.
Hayden holds an 11-point advantage over Biaggi
Australian Michael Doohan set the record in 1997.
There will also be plenty of interest in the race for second place, with Nicky Hayden, Marco Melandri, Colin Edwards and Max Biaggi in contention.
Hayden and Melandri are tied in second on 170 points, Edwards is eight points back and Biaggi is 11 points adrift.
Repsol Honda rider Biaggi conceded second spot by failing to score points in Qatar and Australia and is determined to bounce back.
He said: "I am only 11 points off second at the moment with two races to go and I will definitely keep fighting hard to move up again in the championship."
For Melandri, on the Movistar Honda, second place would be an excellent result in his first season on a top bike in MotoGP.
He said: "At the beginning of the season the second place in the championship was just a dream, now it is my target - this would be the best way to thank Fausto Gresini and Honda who have believed in me."
