"Jaime Alguersuari faced the challenging task of making his Formula 1 debut half-way through the season in place of Sebastien Bourdais. He has also been racing World Series by Renault and karts at the same time.

"The 19-year-old became the youngest grand prix driver of all time and, to a reasonable extent, he has handled it with maturity.

"The word is that Toro Rosso will keep both their youngsters, which is an expensive decision given the amount of damage they have done to their cars this season. But understandable nevertheless.

"Let's hope it is not too much too soon for Alguersuari. It's a straight fight between him getting on top of the demands of being an F1 driver, or having his confidence destroyed.

"He'll need a fast start next year."
