Team Lotus test driving in Barcelona
Team Lotus are hoping to move up the grid this season

Brazilian driver Luiz Razia has been announced as Team Lotus's reserve for the new Formula 1 season.

The 22-year-old impressed as a test driver for Virgin last year.

Razia is said to have pipped Hispania's Indian reserve Karun Chandhok, who was mooted by Lotus principal Tony Fernandes.

Lotus have also confirmed Italian Davide Valsecchi and Portuguese-born Angolan Ricardo Teixeira as test drivers for the team.

In a statement, the Malaysian-owned team said: "Luiz and Davide will be taking part in a number of Friday practice sessions at selected 2011 grands prix."

Team Lotus made their debut last season as Lotus Racing but failed to win a point.
