Formula 1 big picture is a feature designed to showcase a side of a dramatic, visual sport that television cannot always portray. Over the last 20 years, Darren Heath has carved a reputation as one of F1's most original photographers. This is Darren's story behind his latest image: "The start of his title defence just a few weeks away, Sebastian Vettel gets back to work at the first of the 2011 pre-season tests in Valencia, Spain. "Looking for all the world like another title-winning racer, his Red Bull RB7 set blisteringly quick times straight out of the box. "So why the serious face from a man who usually has a grin on his face? "As is so often the case, the newly crowned world champion appears to take on a wholly different character having climbed to the very summit of their sport. "Vettel, it would seem, is no different, aware of his standing and therefore keen to assume a more serious and, dare I say it, grown-up persona. "The trick - photographically speaking - is to capture this shift in mind set through the lens. "After the day's track time, the drivers are quizzed by journalists and TV crews on the performance of their new car, giving the photographers in attendance a chance for an out-of-cockpit shot. "When one has fantastic late afternoon Spanish winter light and a stern looking champion staring straight down the barrel, it's hard to go wrong."
