Mercedes driver Nico Rosberg fears the newly laid asphalt at the Korea International Circuit might not 'hold up' next weekend when the 5.621km track hosts its inaugural F1 world championship race.

FIA president Jean Todt says Africa is unlikely to host a Formula 1 race in the near future. F1 boss Bernie Ecclestone said in July that South Africa could host a grand prix within three years, but Todt believes it may have to wait a bit longer.

Peter Sauber has admitted the ideal driver pairing for his Sauber team is a promising young rookie alongside a an experienced, steadier hand. Having recruited 20-year-old Mexican GP2 driver Sergio Perez for next season, Sauber believes current driver Kamui Kobayashi has shown the maturity this year to take the latter role.

With the announcement that a Russian Grand Prix will join the Formula 1 calendar in 2014 coming a week before the inaugural Korean Grand Prix, Mercedes team boss Ross Brawn is of the opinion that further global expansion in F1 can only be a good thing.
