The latest stage of Silverstone redevelopment centres on new pit and paddock buildings

I've been on a tour of the new Silverstone pit and paddock buildings today and they look well advanced already. The pit buildings are expected to be ready by next May.

Formula 1 rookie Nico Hulkenberg's future with Williams is in doubt, with the team believed to be interested in taking on a driver with financial backing. Force India's Adrian Sutil and GP2 champion Pastor Maldonado have been in talks with the team.

Sauber's 2011 signing, 20-year-old Mexican Sergio Perez, has visited the team's Swiss base in Hinwil for his first seat-fitting. Perez says he will drive an F1 car for the first time during the end-of-season testing in Abu Dhabi after his final race in the GP2 Series.

Ferrari boss Stefano Domenicali has reiterated his support for Felipe Massa, saying the Brazilian driver will stay with the team in 2011, as he told the BBC in Japan. Domencali said: "He knows the team is totally behind him, there is no doubt about that."

Michael Schumacher is looking forward to "a few days to enjoy and disappear with the family" before next week's Korean Grand Prix, where he plans to gather more useful data for Mercedes as they plot their 2011 car.

The Formula 1 teams sat down in Japan to discuss ways to make race weekends more attractive to fans. An idea to reduce race weekends to two days received little support but teams were keen to see whether they could get more value out of Friday, when practice normally takes place.

Renault driver Robert Kubica will keep his driving skills sharp ahead of the South Korean Grand Prix in his other favourite driving pursuit - rallying. The Polish driver is named in the entry list for this weekend's Rally Antibes Cote d'Azur.
