Red Bull's Mark Webber has joked that he would happily swap his second-placed grid position for the third spot occupied by Ferrari's Fernando Alonso. The Australian is unhappy with having to negotiate the dirty side of the track into the first corner.

Mercedes' Michael Schumacher has received backing from fellow German Sebastian Vettel. The Red Bull driver has predicted that the seven-time world champion, 18 years his senior, will improve through the second half of the year and could have a say in the destiny of the title.

Lewis Hamilton has laughed off suggestions from the Red Bull camp that he and McLaren team-mate Jenson Button are destined to fall out as the season reaches its climax. "It's actually just funny when you see the kind of things that have emerged this week," he said. (Press Association)
