On 29 March, BBC television will begin screening Formula One races for the first time in 12 years, but before that, viewers get a taste of the thrills and spills to come with a trail for cinema and TV
Entitled 'The Chase', it is directed by John Crowley (who won a Bafta for Channel 4 drama Boy A) and depicts a classic movie car chase, but with F1 machines...
...Or not quite F1 machines. Locally-sourced racing cars were mocked up to look like F1 racers in the BBC Sport colours of yellow and black
In the yellow car: Deon Joubert, a 42-year-old former touring car driver who now makes a living as a stuntman and test driver
In the black: Danie Sandenbergh, whose biography describes him as a former wild-child turned fundamentalist fire-breathing preacher
Filmed over just three days in and around Cape Town in South Africa, mechanics were constantly on hand to fix the cars as vibration from the bumpy surfaces took its toll
The film crew described the main challenges as fitting everything into a tight schedule - and budget - and keeping the cars in one piece
The chase begins as the two cars wait at some traffic lights
One of the highlights comes as the cars round a corner to be confronted by an oncoming truck
The climax of the film (if you don't want to know the ending, look away now!) features one of the cars flying over the end of an unfinished bridge
The scene required stunt driver Deon to bring his car to a halt 20m from the edge of the drop…
