Button row delays Jaguar
Jenson Button
Button's future could affect a host of driver decisions
Jaguar are to put off a decision over their 2005 driver line-up until after Jenson Button's future is decided.

The British driver is the subject of a battle between BAR and Williams, with both teams claiming that the 24-year-old is contracted to them next year.

Jaguar team boss David Pitchforth will have a vacancy with Australian Mark Webber leaving for Williams next year.

"I'm kind of biding my time until we get 'Jensongate', or whatever it's called, sorted out," he said.

"There are quite a lot of drivers that we're talking to. Some of that does depend on how we get the budgets sorted out and divided up."

Both BAR, Button's current employers, and Williams have submitted contracts for Button.

The Briton wants to join Williams but Honda-powered BAR want him to stay.

The dispute will be settled by Formula One's contract recognition board.

According to Sir Frank Williams the board will meet to begin its investigation on 26 September, but a resolution could take months.

Austrian Christian Klien, who finished sixth at the last Belgian Grand Prix for his first points in Formula One, is hoping to stay with Jaguar.
