Euro GP qualifying as it happened
All the action from Saturday's final qualifying session at the Nurburgring in Germany. (All times BST)

Final positions:
1 K Raikkonen (McLaren) 1:31.523
2 M Schumacher (Ferrari) 1:31.555
3 R Schumacher (Williams) 1:31.619
4 JP Montoya (Williams) 1:31.765
5 R Barrichello (Ferrari) 1:31.780
6 J Trulli (Renault) 1:31.976

1404: As the German fans cheer Michael Schumacher's lap, Kimi Raikkonen snatches pole from the Ferrari star by just 0.032secs.

1402: Michael Schumacher locks up into the bottom hairpin but still snatches provisional pole by less than a 10th of a second with a 1:31.555.

1359: Juan Pablo Montoya is 0.146secs down on team-mate Ralf Schumacher to move into second place.

1356: Ralf Schumacher snatches pole from Barrichello with a 1:31.619 - but in the Williams pit team owner Frank Williams shakes his head, presumably thinking it will not be enough to beat Michael Schumacher.

1354: Barrichello takes pole despite being down on Trulli at the first and second splits and making a mistake going into the final corner. His lap is a 1:31.780.

1352: Down to the last five now, and Barrichello starts his lap with a slight braking error into the first corner.

1348: Coulthard makes a mistake under braking for the first corner and can only manage fourth place on 1:32.742, nearly a second slower than fastest man Trulli.

1345: Jarno Trulli knocks Panis' Toyota off provisional pole with an excellent lap. The Renault driver is the first man under one minute 32 seconds, with a 1:31.976.

1342: Fernando Alonso's Renault misses out on snatching provisional pole from Panis by just 0.026secs.

1340: Fisichella puts in a smooth lap to move into fifth place in the Jordan, 0.3secs ahead of team-mate Firman.

1337: Frentzen knocks Pizzonia out of sixth place with a time of one minute 34 seconds precisely.

1334: Heinz-Harald Frentzen heads out on to the track for his qualifying run in the Sauber.

1331: Jenson Button can only manage fourth in the BAR - but he is more than a second quicker than team-mate Villeneuve.

1328: Webber moves into third place in the Jaguar with a lap of 1:33.066 - more than a second quicker than team-mate Pizzonia.

1326: Jaguar's Mark Webber starts his qualifying lap.

1324: Heidfeld spins in the Sauber, after being scrambled out on to the track following a super-fast 18-minute engine change before the session. He will start at the back or from the pit lane.

1323: Ralph Firman goes third for Jordan, a second slower than the Toyotas but ahead of Pizzonia's Jaguar.

1319: Britain's Justin Wilson fails to beat Minardi team-mate Verstappen by nearly 0.2 secs and goes last.

1313: Dutchman Jos Verstappen slots into last place so far in the Minardi with a lap nearly two seconds slower than anyone else so far.

1311: Olivier Panis, fastest in morning practice, sets the fastest first sector time in the Toyota and carries the speed through the rest of the lap to take provisional pole with a competitive-looking 1:32.350.

1308: Pizzonia's lap of 1:34.159 slots the Brazilian into second place in the Jaguar.

1305: Da Matta takes provisional pole in the Toyota with a 1:32.949.

1303: Jacques Villeneuve does not get off to a good start - he manages a one minute 34.596 second lap.

1300: The green light flashes at the end of the pit lane and BAR driver Jacques Villeneuve, who spun in the rain on Friday, heads out for the first lap of the afternoon.

Qualifying starts at 1300 BST, with McLaren driver Kimi Raikkonen in the prime position of running last after setting the fastest time in Friday's session.

But it was Williams drivers Ralf Schumacher and Juan Pablo Montoya who set the pace in Saturday morning practice, which often gives a good indication of form for qualifying.

The two Williams stars headed a list of eight drivers on Michelin tyres, all ahead of Michael Schumacher and Rubens Barrichello of Ferrari, who use the rival Bridgestone rubber.

However, the Ferraris were first and second fastest in the 15-minute warm-up before qualifying, ahead of Coulthard, Montoya and Raikkonen.
