Swindon Robins Simon Stead out of King's Lynn meeting

Stead has taken over the captaincy this season from Leigh Adams

Swindon Robins must do without their captain Simon Stead for their trip to King's Lynn on Wednesday.

Stead missed the 62-30 thrashing at the hands of Belle Vue on Monday with rib and shoulder damage sustained in a crash in Poland 10 days ago.

"Simon arrived at Belle Vue thinking he would be able to race but he is in too much discomfort," said Robins co-owner Gary Patchett.

"We then made a decision for the King's Lynn meeting."

Patchett continued: "It's been a hugely difficult start to the season to say the least and we can't wait for the moment when we have a full seven-man team.

"We will do our very best at King's Lynn which is always a tough place to go. I know that from my season in the Premier League with Birmingham."

The Robins have booked Jason Lyons as a guest for Grzegorz Zengota, who has a broken thigh, as the club continues working on signing a replacement to cover his absence.
