Weymouth Wildcats have been closed down after landlords repossessed the National League club's Wessex Stadium. Wildcats' licence has been annulled and will return to the British Speedway Promoters' Association (BSPA), along with the club's riding assets. Weymouth chairman Phil Bartlett said: "I think it's a fantastic sport and I wish anyone who looks to take the club over all the luck in the world. "I can now quite clearly concentrate on my family and business." Bartlett was eager to sell the club and offered to let it go for £1, even revealing last week that he was in talks with a potential buyer. "It's a great shame as I had a buyer in place and received confirmation from my solicitor this weekend that there was an undertaking to take on all the existing liabilities and to clear all outstanding monies," he told the club website. "The club was set to be taken forward, but this will now not be the case."
