Plymouth Devils 45-45 Team Viking

Plymouth Devils

Plymouth had to be grateful to reserves Jaimie Pickard and Ben Reade for helping them avoid defeat against Team Viking Select on Friday evening.

The Devils were held to a 45-45 draw, despite the Vikings missing Michael Melchoirsen and Lars Englerud who had problems with their North Sea crossing.

But the British/Scandinavian visitors were still in good form, Peter Juul Larsen scoring a six ride paid maximum.

Thomas Jorgenson also set a new track record of 49.50 seconds.

Paul Starke led the Devils, while Mark Simmonds struggled with an abscess on a tooth, and Seemond Stephens had some problems with a change of engine.

Plymouth's David Gough withdrew from the meeting after breaking his collarbone in his first race.

Danny Hodgson, who has been riding for the Isle of Wight, is being lined up as a short-term replacement.
