Wolverhampton Wolves duo Freddie Lindgren and Tai Woffinden have been awarded permanent wild card places in next year's Grand Prix series.

Swedish-born Lindgren, 24, finished ninth in the 2009 campaign, one place below the automatic qualifying places.

He also topped the Elite League averages and helped the Wolves to claim the title.

Woffinden, 19, had an outstanding debut season in the top flight, and is seen as Britain's best young rider.

Chris Harris, another GB rider who has impressed, claimed a wild card spot along with Denmark's Hans Anderson who completed the quartet.

Woffinden has been widely touted as one of the emerging talents of a new generation

BSI Speedway MD Paul Bellamy

"Fredrik Lindgren and Hans Andersen fluctuated in and out of the top eight all season and both made the podium on more than one occasion," said Paul Bellamy, managing director of BSI Speedway.

"Tai Woffinden has continued to impress this season and has been widely touted as one of the emerging talents of a new generation.

"We are confident he will develop into one of the best British riders we have seen in the series for many years," he added.

The inclusion of the Scunthorpe-born youngster follows the outstanding performance of Russian rookie Emil Sayfutdinov in the 2009 event.
