Hawkins first rode for the Rebels between 2005 and 2007
Somerset Rebels have re-signed Ritchie Hawkins for the 2010 season, two years after he last rode for them.
The 26-year-old was part of the 2005 Somerset team that won the Premier League Fours championship, the Rebels' first trophy at that level.
"I'm really pleased to return to ride for Somerset," said Hawkins.
"I enjoyed my stint with Scunthorpe and I know they wanted me to stay but the lure of Somerset was too strong - it'll be just like coming home."
The former British Under-21 champion was on Somerset's roster for the 2008 campaign but serious injuries, incurred pre-season, ruled him out of the entire campaign.
Hawkins made his return to the track in 2009 with Sheffield before moving onto Scunthorpe for the latter part of the season.
It is the Rebels' second signing in as many days, following the capture of young Australian rider Sam Masters.
