Oakes returns to Peterborough where he had been a promoter in the 1990s

Coventry Bees co-manager Peter Oakes has left the club after five and a half seasons at Brandon. Oakes will now take up the position of director of speedway at Peterborough Panthers, leaving Colin Pratt to manage team affairs on his own at Coventry. The Pratt-Oakes partnership began midway through the 2004 season. Under their stewardship Bees twice won the Elite League, Knockout Cup and Craven Shield, completing an impressive treble in 2007. Pratt will hold talks with club owner Avtar Sandhu this week regarding the vacant team manager's position. "We only knew for sure over the weekend that Peter was leaving," said Pratt, "so there's nothing further to say other than we'll be carrying on as normal at the stadium."
