Scotland's Allan McNish turned in a dramatic drive to secure a fourth victory in the Petit Le Mans 1,000-mile race at Road Atlanta.

The Le Mans 24 Hour race winner stormed back from a pre-race crash which saw him miss the first two laps to add to his wins in 2000, 2006 and 2007.

Audi's McNish caught the Peugeot of Christian Klien with less than an hour left in the 10-hour race.

A caution flag then wiped out his lead but he stormed on to win by 4.51 secs.

McNish, driving with Italians Dindo Capello and Emanuele Pirro, gave much of the credit to his crew, saying: "All I did was drive the beast."

The Scot had been an unexpected late draft for Audi, having switched from the American Le Mans Series to the European-based equivalent this year.

Audi is unbeaten in the classic US long-distance race after making its debut on the 2.54-mile Georgia track in 2000.
