Australia's Ryan Briscoe says he rejected the chance to race for Formula One strugglers Jordan in order to drive in America's Indy Racing League.
Sydney-born Briscoe is still only 23
"It was quite a difficult decision," said Briscoe, who will compete for Target Chip Ganassi Racing.
"But I saw this as a better option of making a platform of a better career.
"Some time in the future I would like to race in Formula One at the point end of the field. But I'm 100% convinced this is the right decision."
Briscoe has been an F1 test driver with Toyota for the last two seasons but said the opportunity to drive in the Indy Racing League would be a "great step forward".
