Wilson grabs first Champ Car pole
Justin Wilson
Wilson was set for a top-three finish
England's Justin Wilson claimed his first-ever Champ Car pole position in Portland on Saturday.

Wilson, who lost his drive at Formula One team Jaguar last year, held on to the top spot he earned on Friday.

The RuSport driver, joined by team-mate AJ Allmendinger on the front row, now has a great chance to finally end his podium drought in Sunday's race.

Wilson said: "It's going to be a very long race. Some strategy is going to come into play and a lot of patience."

Paul Tracy will start third and his Canadian compatriot Alex Tagliani will start fourth.
