Joe Nemechek has yet to win a race in the 2004 season
|
Joe Nemechek claimed his first pole position of the season as he starred in qualifying for Sunday's EA Sports 500 at the Talladega Superspeedway.
Nemechek took his Chevrolet around the 2.66-mile circuit in 50.202 seconds to finish ahead of Ford drivers Ricky Rudd and Dale Jarrett.
"It's about the car in qualifying but in the race the driver makes the difference," said Nemechek.
Nascar Nextel Cup series leader Jeff Gordon came home in fifth place.
