Second straight record for Coulthard
![]() Coulthard is showing top pre-season form
Britain's David Coulthard has broken the lap record he set on Monday at the Ricardo Tormo de Cheste circuit in Valencia.
Coulthard beat the last year's record of 1min 13.530 by French driver Oliver Panis on Monday with a time of 1:13.423. He then clipped his own time by 0.13 of a second as he covered the Spanish track in 1:13.27 on Tuesday. Coulthard was driving the new McLaren MP4-16. Jarno Trulli came in next with a time of 1:14.03 in a Jordan, building on Monday's good performance by team-mate Heinz-Harald Frentzen.
Luciano Burti pulled his Jaguar up to fifth as his team mate Eddie Irvine struggled to put in a good lap. The Formula One education of Sauber prospect Kimi Raikkonen continued as he completed another full-race distance. "I feel more and more confident with each run," said the Finn.
