Ebdon shocks O'Sullivan
Ebdon refused to bow down in the quarter-finals
Peter Ebdon (Eng) bt Ronnie O'Sullivan 5-4
Peter Ebdon completed a day of shocks by sending Ronnie O'Sullivan out of the LG Cup quarter-finals at Preston. O'Sullivan entered the match as clear favourite, having potted a £20,000 cash prize for a quick-fire maximum break of 147 earlier in the week. But Ebdon shrugged off some typically stylish O'Sullivan play to claim a 5-4 victory which sets up a last four match against Northern Ireland's Joe Swail. Swail defeated Barry Hawkins in the other match of Friday evening's session. Earlier, Stephen Lee ended John Higgins dreams of a fourth consecutive title this season with a 5-2 triumph. And Stephen Hendry beat Welshman Mark Williams by the same score. Ebdon opened up a 3-1 lead against O'Sullivan, but looked to be on his way out when his opponent clocked up three successive frames. But he battled back, and claimed the final two frames for a narrow victory. More to follow
