Coverage of the Embassy World Snooker Championship begins Saturday 21 April 1125BST on BBC Two

The BBC has extensive live coverage of the 17-day snooker marathon from the minute the Embassy World Championship get underway at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield.

The winner will collect a cheque for 250,000 and lift one of the most famous trophies in British sport.

Last year Mark Williams captured the biggest prize in snooker by becoming Embassy World Champion 2000.

No first-time winner has ever retained his title at The Crucible, but the Welshman is determined to re-write the record books.

Dougie Donelly and Matt Smith will be sharing the presentation, and for the first time, Steve Davies will be joining the commentary team along side Clive Everton, Ray Edmonds, Dennis Taylor, John Virgo and Willie Thorne.
