14. Jelena Dokic
The Yugoslav turned Australian turned Yugoslav prodigy has excelled in her two Wimbledon appearances. She marked her arrival in 1999 by pulling off one of the biggest surprises in Wimbledon history. Dokic, who was ranked 129 in the world at the time, defeated top seed Martina Hingis in the first round and carried on through to the quarter-finals. She went one better last year but lost to Lindsay Davenport in the semi-finals. Back representing her native Yugoslavia after a spell with Australia, she won her first tour title in May with a win at the Italian Open. Her father Damir has a record of causing constroversy at Grand Slam events.
