USPGA final round Tiger Watch
Tiger Woods' first 18 holes at the USPGA title
All the hole-by-hole action as last year's champion Tiger Woods goes round in a regulation 70 for a one-under-par 279.

  • Hole one:
Woods, who had an erratic time on Saturday for a one-under-par 69, gets his final round underway with a par four at the 1st.

His opening drive finds the light rough on the right of the fairway, but his second shot still reaches the heart of the green. The birdie putt shaves the edge of the hole and he taps in for a four.

Playing partner Fred Couples drops a shot to move to level par.

  • Hole two:
Woods goes looking for a repeat of Saturday's birdie but instead drops a shot after a disastrous second.

He starts with a glorious drive 318 yards straight down the fairway, but his approach shot lands in a greenside bunker.

Although he lobs the ball out of the sand, he is still 12 feet from the hole and misses the putt.

Not a lot to smile about in the final round

  • Hole three:
His challenge surely over, a dejected Woods nevertheless drives immaculately down the right side of the fairway and follows it with a nine-iron approach that finds the green.

The putt is a good one but still fails to drop and Woods has to settle for a four.

Couples birdies to get his round back on level par, moving ahead of Woods to one-under for the tournament.

  • Hole four:
Woods finds the green on the par-three 4th but the birdie putt he faces is a long one.

The line is fine but he gets the weight wrong, leaving the ball short, so Woods has to settle for another par.
    Level

  • Hole five:
Things improve as Woods drives 308 yards off the tee and then fires his five-iron close to the hole for an eagle chance.

But he misreads the eight-foot putt, which curls past the hole, and Woods settles for a birdie to get back to level par for the round.

  • Hole six:
A 320-yard drive down the left-hand side of the fairway finds light rough from which Woods cannot reach the green.

His second duly comes up short, meaning he has to get up and down, but the approach is a fine one so par is saved.

  • Hole seven:
Woods tees up on the left and clears the pond with a superb shot that sets up another birdie chance. Again, though, the putt rattles the cup but stays out.

  • Hole eight:
Another par-four for the world number one on the 463-yard 8th.

  • Hole nine:
So Woods reaches the turn without improving on his overnight position. He again goes in to the sand and does well to salvage a par four which means he completes the front nine in a regulation 35.

His partner, Couples, goes one better on the final hole of the front half, moving up to two under par with a fine birdie.

  • Hole 10:
Woods heads for home and records his eighth par of the round on the 439-yard 10th.

  • Hole 11:
More frustration at the 11th as Woods finds the sand off the tee and still cannot reach the green with his second. The approach leaves a challenging putt to save par. He pushes the ball past the hole and drops further down the field.

  • Hole 12:
A huge, 340-yard tee-shot sends Woods up the fairway and his approach is a good one, but the ball rolls back to the edge of the green. Nevertheless it is another eagle chance and Woods bends his knees, urging the putt towards the hole. Again, though, the ball slips just by and the birdie feels a disappointing return.

There is a birdie, too, for Couples, who moves to three-under for the tournament with his third birdie of the round.

  • Hole 13:
Another birdie chance for Woods but it proves to be the same old story as a long putt misses by inches and he records another four. That could prove to be his last chance of progress.

  • Hole 14:
With the leaders now out on the course, Woods is into the tricky latter stages, and his misery on the greens continues with another missed birdie opportunity. The 15-foot putt slips wide again. Couples slips up to fall back to two under, one ahead of Woods.

  • Hole 15:
Another hole, another par for Woods, albeit on this difficult 227-yard par-three. It is his 11th regulation hole of the round.

  • Hole 16:
Woods birdied this hole in the second round, but no such luck this time around. Another par four.

  • Hole 17:
All depressingly familiar for someone as proudly competitive as Woods. He has another long birdie putt, again he strikes it well, but again it drifts just wide. At least he did better than on Saturday, when this hole cost him a shot, but for last year's winner the end now cannot come soon enough.

The same is true for Couples who manages to drop two shots, allowing Woods to move past him in the lower reaches of the scoreboard.

  • Hole 18:
Probably the most difficult hole on the course and it cost Woods a shot on Saturday. Sunday's pin position is every bit as challenging and he finds the sand with his approach shot but then plays out beautifully, managing a rare smile as the ball trickles just by the hole.

Another par four means that, for the first time in his career, the world number one misses the top 10 for five consecutive tournaments.

    Couples finishes with a one-over round of 71 for a level-par tournament.
