USPGA second round Tiger Watch
Tiger Woods' first 18 holes at the USPGA title
All the hole-by-hole action as Tiger Woods just makes the cut on the second day in Atlanta.

  • Hole one:
Woods tees off at the first and hits his 300-yard shot into the crowd on the left. Woods pitches his 113-yard second well short of the hole. His third is hit brilliantly to land within inches of the hole.
    Three over

  • Hole two:
Woods has another nightmare drive and hits his shot yet again into the rough. He uses his eight iron to find the edge of the green. His third is again hit close to the pin and he makes another par.
    Three over

    Blasting out of the rough

  • Hole three:
A solid drive - but his eight iron second shoots through the back of the green. A sweet pitch shot from the rough puts the ball five feet from the hole - and he sinks the par putt for a four.
    Three over

  • Hole four:
Tiger takes a four iron out of his bag for this 217-yard par three hole. He over-hits the tee shot, but the ball clings onto the back of the large green. Woods is faced with a huge 50-foot putt for a birdie - but he leaves it eight feet short. Again, though, he shows his class to hold a testing par putt.
    Three over

  • Hole five:
Woods continues to struggle with his driving - this time the ball flies into the gallery to the left of the fairway on this par five.

He chops out of the trees and then finds the edge of the green with his third shot. At last he has a birdie putt - and he holes it from eight feet to pick up his first shot of the day.
    Two over

  • Hole six:
After finding the middle of the fairway, Woods looks unhappy with his second - but the ball still finds the heart of the green. He misses a 15-footer for birdie, but taps in for a four.
    Two over

  • Hole seven:
Woods selects a seven iron for this par three hole. It looks the correct club, but the shot is slightly off line and he is frustrated to see the ball finish 25 feet from the flag. He over-hits his uphill birdie putt and has to settle for another par.
    Two over

  • Hole eight:
Woods' tee shot flirts with a bunker on the right of the fairway at this long par four. A glorious second stroke into the green stops dead 15 feet from the hole.

It is the kind of gilt-edged birdie chance an in-form Woods would snaffle with glee, but this time the ball slips past the hole - much to Tiger's dismay.
    Two over

  • Hole nine:
Woods' driving looks much more settled now and he finds the fairway again. His second flies to within five feet of the hole - and he bags his second birdie of the day to reach the turn in two-under 33.
    One over

  • Hole 10:
He sends his tee shot 275 yards straight into a fairway bunker - but the sand poses no danger to the best player in the world as he reaches the green with a nine iron. Two putts give him another par.

    The frustration shows

  • Hole 11:
A huge two iron off the tee bounds down the hill and around the corner of this dog-leg par four. A fantastic approach then sets up another birdie opportunity. But he misses a 12-foot downhill putt and holes for a four.
    One over

  • Hole 12:
A wayward tee shot at this par five leaves Woods in deep trouble, stranded in the heavy rough behind a large tree. His only option is to hack out sideways, ruling out the possibility of reaching the green in two.

After finding the putting surface with his third, his birdie chance just misses the target and he collects a five to stay over par.
    One over

  • Hole 13:
A perfect tee shot sets Woods on the way - but again he makes a mistake, this time sending a straightforward sand wedge into a bunker in front of the green.

He splashes out to 10 feet - but his par putt lips out. A five represents his first dropped shot of the round - but it leaves him perilously close to missing the final two rounds, with the projected cut now at level par.
    Two over

  • Hole 14:
After slipping back, Woods looks determined to make immediate amends - and his first two shots are spot on as he gives himself another chance to pick up a stroke.

With holes fast running out, this 20-footer looks crucial to his chances of making the cut. But he misses it on the low side and takes a par four.

    Struggling for form

  • Hole 15:
Woods looks in trouble again at the hardest hole on the course, when he leaves his tee shot just short of the green.

But finally he pulls out one of his trademark shots. He launches a huge putt from off the green and it travels 50 feet at speed before dropping into the hole - sparking a huge roar from his army of fans. The birdie two means he is now in with a shout of making the cut.
    One over

  • Hole 16:
After his tee shot finishes just in front of a bunker, Woods sends his second onto the green - but he is still 35 feet away from the pin.

But after his magical birdie at the 15th, he manages a repeat performance, sending a long putt unerringly into the hole for a three. The gallery erupts as he punches the air in delight. Suddenly he has picked up two shots from nowhere and looks like securing his place for the weekend.

  • Hole 17:
This 207-yard par three hole offers a chance of a third successive birdie - and Woods duly smacks his tee shot to the centre of the green. But there is to be no hat-trick, as his 35-foot putt just slips past and he cards a three.

  • Hole 18:
The fearsome final hole holds no pitfalls for Woods, who is now back to something like his best form. A fine drive is followed by an assured approach shot over the water that protects the green.

A 20-foot birdie putt just misses the hole but he taps in for a four and a three-under par round of 67. With a half-way total of 140 Woods breathes a huge sigh of relief - he has made the cut and will be around for the final two rounds.
