Who will take the USPGA title?
David Toms and Phil Mickelson are locked in a thrilling duel in the final round of the USGA Championship in Atlanta.

Toms began the day with a two-shot lead at the Atlantic Athletic club, but his playing partner Phil Mickelson soon drew level. The pair remain deadlocked on 14-under-par, with Singo Katayama of Japan and American Steve Lowery on eleven-under. David Duval's hopes have suffered a setback after he dropped two shots to go eight-under, and Tiger Woods is out of contention after a disappointing tournament. The USPGA Championship is reaching an exciting climax, but who do you think will take the title? E-mail your views.
It seems good for golf, good for Tiger, and good for all the other players on the circuit that Tiger is not performing well this year compared to his achievements in 2000. He is obviously
going through a spell of personal readjustment in his life. But given his strong character and strong upbringing, Tiger will rise again, but maybe not in this PGA or the next few championships. And when he
does, the sporting world will once more watch and applaud him with
rapt admiration. Till then, perhaps we should take him from under the
microscope. We will view him kindly again.
Woods can not recover from the hole he has put himself into. Further, I think that the rest of the golf world has finally caught up to him. Golf courses are finally making the changes that that are required in this era of new ball and club technology. Major wins for Woods will become tougher and tougher to come by. At bottom, I do not think that Woods will surpass Nicklaus' 18 major wins. Even now, time is running out on Woods.
Imagine only winning one major a year! Shock, horror, what abject failure. In the UK we usually talk of people his age having potential. Colin Montgomerie, Tim Henman anybody? Is there any golf fan or pundit who does not believe Tiger will win another major? In fact, if he cards a sub 66 today is there anyone who would bet against him winning this one?
I am sick and tired of hearing about "What's wrong with Tiger Woods". WHO CARES? He has been beaten by better players on the day, deal with it and start giving credit to those who deserve it, this game of golf is a lot bigger than just one player.
I think Tiger will be disappointed with his 1st round score, but everyone knows he is in a class of his own.
Stand back and watch the Tiger ROAR into contention in the 2nd Round.
I worked as Marshall at The Open this year and having seen Tiger Woods play every one of his practise rounds, as well as four competitive rounds, I have to agree the thoughts of Norman W Baker from the US.
I didn't see a man
struggling with his game or a man with a burning desire
to that week. What I did see was man who was
completely relaxed and just enjoying playing the game
and entertaining the galleries. Tiger is merely ticking over
at the moment, and when he chooses to find top gear, it
will be there for sure!
Tiger has definitely lost it. You can tell by his body language that he's not as motivated as he used to be. Too many big pay days have taken their toll.
If he gets his drives in the fairway, he'll be in contention. If he keeps missing them, he's got no chance
Tiger has taken the game to new heights over the last few years, so much so that we are now asking the question 'is he in a slump?,' because he has not won at the last two Major tournaments. He will win many more. Other professionals know what makes Tiger so different. He should be crowned the greatest golfer ever, even if he does not surpass Jack's 18 Majors. The game is played at higher skill, more media scrutiny and more competitive levels these days.
Mike Paul, UK Woods is human after all but I see him winning the USPGA this week. He likes records and the course is good.
Personally, I am fed up with "Tigermania". OK, he is a great golfer, but why does every form of the media have to put so much focus on Woods? When a golf tournament is on, we want to hear about the guys who are playing well, not a shot by shot account of Woods' worst round for three months or whatever it is. He is only human, and has bad days on the golf course like the rest of us...he is NOT going to win every single tournament he ever enters, which seems to be what a lot of people now expect of him!
No one can dominate a sport like golf for too long. Tiger has become the standard-setter for the sport but he will still have his off-days.
He has been good, but the measure of a good sportsman is how well they perform when things are not coming together well.
'Greatest golfer to wield a club' is a WILD statement. Jack Nicklaus has won 18 majors including five PGA titles. Mr Woods has a long way to go before he can be called the greatest.
Despite Tiger not really challenging in the last two Majors, he is still having a successful season by anyone¿s standards, even his own. If Tiger has an average week he is not going to win and may not even challenge, as there are so many players today that are capable of winning a major. In contrast to Nicklaus' era, an average week for him meant a top ten finish as the competition was not as strong. We will see Tiger close to his best and that could well be good enough to win. By the way Bobby, I don¿t think that Tiger would describe winning last year as "winning in a canter," considering it went to a play-off.
Tiger Woods is just having what any normal golfer has - a slump. He must be tired from all the media hassle, physical and mental effort. Although, I suppose when you are a pro that's what you learn to do best - deal with it. I'm sure he'll get back in form and win in the near future.
Tiger Woods is too good a player to have a slack period for too long. Something spectacular is going to happen round the corner and I will be not be surprised if his brilliance re-emerges at USPGA Championships. He has more than 30 years of a golfing career ahead of him and he is bound to have a roller coaster ride at some points. The true mark of a champion is not only to be at the top but more importantly rise from the dust and Tiger is going to roar again, probably sooner than later.
Tiger Woods is working out the kinks with Butch Harmon right now and will be back in full-swing at the PGA. Don't be fooled by his erratic play as he has had plenty of time to correct his problem. I expect him to be seriously in the hunt and would predict a battle between him and Duval.
We have come to expect too much from Tiger Woods, after all, he is only human. Every sports star in the world goes through dips in form and Tiger is no different. Every golfer in the world is following the example set by Woods that golf is a physically demanding sport and therefore you have to be physically fit. Tiger has transformed golf and I wish him all the best in the future. There is one thing for sure, he'll be working harder than anyone else to make sure he is on top of his game. Good luck Tiger.
Tiger has been the best thing that has ever happened to golf. He is a true professional and has made the sport massive all over the world. He has taken the game to new heights, with his strict physical work-outs and unbelievable powers of concentration. He will win many more Majors.
In my opinion, Britain's supposed top three of Monty, Clarke and Westwood could do too take a leaf out of Tiger's book and get physically into shape. Never mind talk of Tiger not winning another major, none of them three will ever win one.
After Tiger won all four Majors together, this year can only be an anti-climax. This has affected his performance. Next year we will see a refreshed and hungry Tiger!
I believe the Tiger has lost his fire to win as he is getting more comfortable with all the attention and dollars. I guess he will really strive for more wins when he drops from the number one spot in the world. But he is still my idol.
The thought that Tiger Woods is in a slump is almost comical. Before Tiger came on the professional golfing scene, if a player won one major and one other tournament during a year, that player had a fantastic year! Now, if Tiger does not win every tournament he plays, he's in a slump and the world is coming to an end! In the US Open, he left the first tee on Saturday at 1:1 odds to win, the next closest rival was at 20:1. Given his competitive fire as well as his incredible game, I would be hard pressed to wager against him next week.
It is not humanly possible for athletes to perform optimally all of the time. I believe he is going through a maturing phase, believe it or not.
He will get back on track.
I think 2000 just sort of overloaded his circuitry. Even machines breakdown now and then, but then they get fixed. And so will Tiger Woods. I think he will win his third PGA title and put fear back into his competitors.
Haniff abu Bakar, Australia Tiger Woods - simply the most phenomenal person ever to wield a golf club. His apparent slump in form only underlines the fact that the guy is human. Last year, Tiger won this tournament at a canter. I can't foresee this happening again, but I'm sure the Tiger will give his all in rectifying the situation.
There are several people like myself that have bought the argument that Tiger's recent dismal performances are a written script, solely to take the public pressure off his game. I am totally convinced Tiger will pick his game up again and demolish his opponents and critics alike whenever he chooses to do so.
I believe that like most champions, Tiger Woods will use these last two defeats to reflect and to continually learn.
