Doubles delight for Zimbabwe
Wayne Black and Kevin Ullyett
Black and Ullyett celebrate victory
W Black & K Ullyett (Zim) (14) bt D Johnson & J Palmer (US) (2) 7-6 (11/9) 2-6 6-3

Wayne Black and Kevin Ullyett upset Americans Don Johnson and Jared Palmer Open in three sets to take the US Open men's doubles title.

Seeded 14th, the win marks an outstanding triumph for the Zimbabweans against the Wimbledon champions and Davis Cup team playing on their own home soil.

Black and Ullyett had to suffer a nervy moment before clinching the title, with Black double-faulting on the first match point before sealing the title at the second attempt.

"I can't believe it," said Black. "I'm sure it will take a few days to sink in. I'm happy to do it for everyone, mostly for my country."

The pair collect $350,000 and are the first players from their country to claim a Grand Slam title.
