Gamewatch: Hingis v Bedanova
Game-by-game action as top seed Martina Hingis beats the Czech Republic's Daja Bedanova in the quarter-finals of the US Open at Flushing Meadows.

It is all over in less than an hour. A double fault from Bedanova gives Hingis two match points. The crowd starts to slow-hand clap. Another double fault completes the Czech player's miserable afternoon in a game that is over in 42 minutes.
Bedanova has no answer to Hingis' poweful baseline game. Another unforced error from the Czech player sees Hingis win her service to 15.
Hingis looks relaxed and confident as she pushes Bedanova around the court. She wins the Czech's service game to 15, with the final point coming from a superb forehand.
Bedanova regains some confidence by approaching the net and volleying to bring the score to 30-30. Then she undoes all her good work by making another two unforced errors to lose the game.
Bedanova loses her service game to love. The final two points of the game see the Czech player make a couple of wild unforced errors.
Hingis, as she did in the first set, is straight out of the starting blocks in the second set, winning her service game to 15.
First set
Bedanova is struggling to get her first service in and she shows her inexperience with some poorly executed drop shots. A long return from the baseline by Bedanova gives Hingis two set points, and the Swiss player makes no mistake with a backhand return. The first set has taken just 25 minutes.
A deep forehand return from Bedanova gives the Czech player break point, but in the best rally of the match Hingis comes back to deuce. A long backhand from the Swiss player gives Bedanova a second break point which Hingis again saves. Some powerful play from the baseline sees the world number one hold her serve.
Bedanova double faults as she falls behind 0-30 and then hits a wild forehand to trail 15-40. A woeful backhand sees her lose her serve for the second time in the match.
Hingis, after losing two successive games, finds her feet again, delivering a series of first serves and powerful ground stroke winners. She wins the game to 15.
Bedanova, who has only lost two service games in the tournament, restores parity as Hingis makes a number of unforced errors. The Swiss player has already hit seven in just four games.
Bedanova begins to find her feet. She concedes the first hree points of the game, but fights back winning five successive points to break Hingis' serve. The pick of those points is a drop shot from Bedanova which gets her to deuce.
The teenager Daja Bedanova is already feeling the pressure. She loses her first service game to love.
Martina Hingis coasts to the opening game, serving powerfully and firing away a series of winners. She wins the game to love.
