Roff on road to recovery
Graeme Bond
Graeme Bond is waiting in the wings
Australia winger Joe Roff looks like being fit to play South Africa in the Tri-Nations match in Perth on Saturday.

There had been concern that Roff would not be fit after he twisted an ankle in training on Wednesday.

He has been receiving intensive treatment on the joint and team spokesman Djuro Sen said on Thursday: "He's a better than even chance now."

Uncapped Graeme Bond is on standby to replace Roff, who holds the Australian record of playing 57 consecutive Tests.

He is just six matches short of overtaking Sean Fitzpatrick's world record.
