Brotherton's Tour moment: Stage nine
AP: Zabel leads home the peleton, 35 minutes behind the winner
Late arrival: Zabel leads home the peleton
Throughout the Tour de France, Simon Brotherton is providing daily race reports for BBC Five Live and stage highlights for Sport Online.

Monday's moment was provided by the Australian, Bradley McGhee, who reminded everyone that Stuart O'Grady isn't the only one flying the flag for those down under.

With 36 kilometres covered on the road to Aix-les-Bains, the Sydneysider instigated an attack which stayed away for 149 kilometres, all the way the finish.

With O'Grady retaining his overall lead, it would have been nice for his former team pursuit colleague to have joined him on the podium as the stage winner, but it wasn't to be.

McGhee, who won a bronze medal in the individual pursuit at the Sydney Olympics last year - just a fortnight after breaking his collarbone - was beaten into third place by Sergei Ivanov and David Extebarria.

Nonetheless, the only two Australian's in the race are certainly making their mark on the Tour, 20 years after Phil Anderson became the first Aussie ever to wear the yellow jersey.
