Match of the Day presenter Gary Lineker and star female golfer Laura Davies are joining the BBC Sport reporting team for this year's Open Championship.

Gary Lineker will introduce BBC Two's nightly highlights programme from Royal Lytham rounding up all the day's crucial play throughout the tournament.

Lineker, a longtime golf fan, said: "It's fantastic that BBC Sport has such a range of rights which allows me to work on such major sporting events as diverse as the FA Cup Final and the Open Championship."

Laura's delighted to be working with the experts

Laura Davies makes her debut with the BBC commentary team, bringing a unique perspective from the players' viewpoint on this, the shortest but most statistically challenging, course on the Open rota.

"I'm delighted to be joining such an expert team for such a prestigious Championship." Davies said.

BBC Television presenter Steve Rider hosts 40 hours of television coverage dedicated to the Open Championship across BBC One and BBC Two - more coverage of the world's most prestigious golf Championship than ever before.

Steve is joined by "the voice of golf" Peter Allis and Ken Brown in the commentary box - and on the course, providing his insightful and intuitive reading of the greens.

Also on the team are Alex Hay and Wayne Grady, 1990 US PGA Champion.
