The former Wigan and Great Britain star played his first union international when he lined up for the England A side which drew against their Wales counterparts 19-19 in Wrexham.

"He has got a lot to learn but he is an outstanding player," said England coach Clive Woodward.

My ultimate goal is to be a starting member of the team - but I still have an awful lot to do
Sale star Jason Robinson

"I have selected Jason totally on what he has done in union. I felt that it was time we brought him into what we are doing."

Robinson was over the moon after hearing about his promotion.

"I'm amazed things have happened so quickly," he said.

It was revealed that Robinson made the 22 due to Dan Luger's injury against Wales. He will act as cover for Healey.

"Sometimes, that's how it goes in sport. Injuries to other players can suddenly present you with an opportunity," he added.

Bracken and Worsley brought in

"If I get on during the Italy game, then it will obviously be one of the highlights of my career - a moment that I would undoubtedly treasure.

Mike Catt
Catt will reach his half-century

"It's great to be on the bench. My ultimate goal is to be a starting member of the team, but I still have an awful lot to do."

Healey reverts to right-wing after he came on for the injured Luger at the Millennium Stadium.

Saracens' Luger damaged his neck during the Wles contest and is now battling to be fit for the Test against Scotland on 3 March.

Iain Balshaw moves to fill in the full-back berth at the expense of Perry who is dropped from the squad altogether.

Saracens prop Julian White, who was on the bench at the Millennium Stadium, also misses out on selection.

Bath centre Mike Catt will win his 50th cap as coach Clive Woodward, bar Luger, retains the side that demolished Wales.

Sarries scrum-half Kyran Bracken and Wasps back-row forward Joe Worsley receive call-ups.
