Kick-off Italy set the ball rolling on a perfect afternoon at Twickenham.
5 mins Italy make a dream start at Twickenham as winger Denis Dallan crashes through on the blind-side for a try in the corner. Andrea Scanavacca adds the two points from the touchline.
9 mins After over-looking an earlier opportunity to kick at goal England opt for the three points after Italy are caught off-side and Jonny Wilkinson duly converts the effort.
14 mins After continued possession England work an overlap from deep and Austin Healey is on hand for the inside pass to run round under the posts. Wilkinson converts for a 10-7 lead.
17 mins Almost immediately Italy level the scores with a penalty from Scanavacca after England are called up for blocking.
18 mins From another break down the right touchline Healey is on hand for the inside pass but referee Stuart Dickenson is unsure if he reached the line in the tackle. The video referee deems that the winger's impetus carries him over and Wilkinson converts from the touchline.
24 mins Carlo Checchinato ensures Italy stay in touch with a try at the corner after Iain Balshaw fails to field a high ball and Scanavacca converts another difficult kick to level the match at 17 points each.
27 mins Scanavacca gives Italy the lead again with a long-range penalty.
30 mins Wilkinson responds with a long-range effort of his own to level the match again.
34 mins Balshaw makes amends for his earlier mistake to score a try of his own running on to Healey's floated long pass. Wilkinson converts to give England a 27-20 lead.
38 mins Wilkinson maintains his 100% record converting a penalty awarded after a late tackle by Walter Pozzebon on Balshawto give England a valuable 10-point lead.
40 mins Italy stay in touch with another Scanavacca penalty as the full back maintains his flawless record.
43 mins In turn Wilkinson converts another long-range penalty on the stroke of half-time to give the hosts a 10-ponit lead at the interval.

42 mins Following a powerful forward drive the ball's recycled for Ben Cohen to burst through on the crash ball under the posts handing Wilkinson an easy opportunity to add the two points.
50 mins Cohen makes way for Jason Robinson to make his international debut. Joe Worsley and Mark Regan also come on in place of Neil Back and Dorian West respectively.
56 mins Pozzebon is sent to the sin bin for ten minutes after continually offending at the breakdown.
57 mins Regan makes an immediate impact looping round to the blind-side to score at the corner and Wilkinson converts another difficult touchline kick to give England a 47-23 lead.
58 mins Kyran Bracken comes on for Matt Dawson.
62 mins England break the 50-point barrier and another substitute gets his name on the scoreboard as Worsley is on hand for Balshaw's inside pass to score at the corner. Wilkinson racks up another conversion to give England a 54-23 lead.
66 mins Pozzebon does not return from the sin bin and is instead replaced by Marco Rivaro.
69 mins The changes continue and for England Jason Leonard makes way for Trevor Woodman, while David Dal Maso comes on for Carlo Caione.
71 mins Will Greenwood rounds off a flowing English move with a show of the ball before ghosting through the defence for five points which Wilkinson turns into seven.
73 mins In another change Martin Corry comes on for Danny Grewcock.
75 mins From his own 22 Balshaw returns an Italian kick ahead the length of the field for a try under the posts which Wilkinson converts to give England 68-23 lead.
79 mins From a quick penalty on the Italian line Wilkinson is on hand to add to his immaculate kicking display with a try which he duly converts.
81 mins Following an initial burst from Worsley England run in another try Which Lawrence Dallaglio rounds off before Wilkinson misses his first kick off the afternoon from near the touchline.
84 mins Referee Dickinson blows the whistle on a championship record-breaking England performance.
