Al Fayed offers to save Wembley
Wembley Stadium
Al Fayed is keen to save Wembley's Twin Towers
On the day of the FA Cup final, Fulham owner Mohamed Al Fayed has offered to move the Premiership newcomers to Wembley in a bid to save the national stadium.

Al Fayed told The Mirror he would take Fulham to play at Wembley for two years while Craven Cottage is rebuilt.

Al Fayed said he would put £10m towards the renovation of Wembley, as he believes it needs modernisation.

Al Fayed told the newspaper that Wembley must be saved as a monument of English football for future major games.

"To even think about knocking it down, to demolish the twin towers is sheer madness," he said.

Al Fayed, who also owns the Harrods department store, believes it is possible to build a new state-of-the-art stadium in the next 12 months.

Al Fayed's comments come on the day the FA Cup final is due to be played at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium - the first time the game has been played outside England.
